London To Brighton 2010

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th May 2010
LONDON TO BRIGHTON MINI RUN

Our weekend started off early Saturday morning, meeting up at Tollage Retail Park, 5 minis were present this year, all set for the night camping at Crystal Palace. Blue Pearl got the job of leading the way this year in Jims absent and to everyones joy didn't even get lost (Amazing !!). On arrival, Darren found out that he had left his ticket at home..omg (luckerly Ann had brought her's, so we managed to get him in.. panic over !!).

Due to the lack of traffic this year, we arrived at Crystal Palace earlier than expected, so had to park up and wait for the gates to open. Once the gates opened, the marshalls directed us onto the field, much better organisation this time, which allowed us much more space than the previous year, so CMC was able to setup the club stand and Gazebo and still have space of all of the tents around it.

There was a couple of shuttle buses laid on, if you faniced a trip in London. For all those who decided to stay and watch the minis arrive, there was a large TV screen showing memories from previous years events. A few of us decided to take the trip into London, that was an experience in itself.

As the evening approached we got the BBQ going, burgers, sausages, bacon, eggs were on offer, cooked by the professionals whilst the others amused themselves.

After a late night, we were up again at 4am, to start moving the minis into line ready for the convoy to Brighton. Shortly followed by breakfast, one member joined the queue to collect ours packs (i'v never seen the queue that long, it seem to go on for miles), while the other packs the tents away.

The run to Brighton was without incident, we kept in convoy for most of the way, kept losing each other at the traffic lights, but still arrived at brighton all together. This year we were parked right opposite the trade stands, how cool was that. The traders themselves were swamped with people and again the concours entrants were astounding.

The drive home was just as enjoyable as the drive down. The weather changed on the way back and the heavens opened, but we all arrived home safely - a great weekend away.

Hopefully next year, the crowd of us will be bigger... bring it on.
