The Neon

Hiya All,

Well the Neon finally made it's way onto the road at the beginning of January 2008.

It's been running fine until yesterday !!!

Travelling to work it went BANG, followed by LOND HOWLING noises, RPM drops suddenly, OIL light came on, engine stalls.

Opened bonnet expecting to see OIL everywhere, nothing !!!

Got the Neon back home in the evening, breakingdown several times.

I think it's the clutch as the RPM drops down to nothing everytime I put the clutch down, but not too sure at the moment.  I will have to wait and see what I find when I strip it down over the weekend.

If any1 could shed some light on what the problem could be, I would be grateful.

RE: The Neon

Neon still off the road, now 2 weeks.

I have replaced the clutch, but still has cured the problem.

Therefore I beleive it must be gearbox trouble.

Never done a gearbox before, so I am just going to replace the engine for the time being..

So i'm expecting the Neon to be off the road 4 a few more days, hopefully will be done for the next club meeting 5th March 08

RE: The Neon

Had a another busy weekend...

Removed cooper engine, found a lot of metal fillings on the sump plug, so when I remove the gearbox from it, i'm expecting to fine a problem !!

New engine cleaned and painted and all auxillias have been fitted, now in place. just need to fill with oil and water, then start her up.

Fingers crossed.

While she's up in the air, I going to fit my HI-LO's and replace the balljoints.

She should hopefully be ready for the next pub meet !!!!

Neon Update...

I'v finally got around to posting Neon update info...

Since engine change, I hv now finally got around to the bodywork.. Front + passenger door have been welded/filled and primed, all rust has been removed from mini, welded, filled, primed, also had to replace the drivers door, so used the 1 off the Bullet.

Added new mirrors, removed bonnet strips plus added a few extra mods. She's starting to look ok

Bodywork just needed flatting down now, before it gets resprayed..

I will post a few pictures of her soon.....

RE: The Neon

Little update on the progress of the Naughty Neon...

After the problems with the wheel bearing at Southern Mini Days I decided it was time to give her a little overhaul...

Had to change the brake pads due to having no brakes and also change the front bump stops, tighen up and re-shim balljoints, apart from that she running ok...

I finally got around to updating my sounds, now has a good all around sound including a nice base, had to re-wire amp, but now sounds cool.

Also go around to fitting my latest STUPID idea, Naughty Neons goes Fast and Ferious.. !!!!! (Demonstration at the BBQ)

Next job, FULL RESPRAY .... !!!! omg
