Indicator Stork
Hi All,
I have a Rally Mk1 Cooper s (Just got it and all excited like when I had my first mini!)
Anyway, The indicator is not canceling and tends to blow the fuse. I believe that its the brass braid bits which are worn or mislined?.
Is there a cheap fix or do I need to by a new stork at £40 + !!
I did manage to sort it for the MOT last week but as I say its gone again.
So can you buy new insides or do you need a new one?
Maybe someone knows of an old boy who does auto electrics and may be able to fix it?
Hope to see you soon and Yes I was half asleep when I made the username MK2 cooper s. I have requested to change this.
James

RE: Indicator Stork
If the indicator is simply staying on, rather than clicking off then u will need to remove stork and re-position brass connector. Failing that, if u want a replacement stork, I hv 1.. or simply pop along to 1 of our meetings and I will hv a look at it for u...

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I will try to make the next meet, but either way I will need it fixed as my Mini is stored 20 miles away in a lock up. There are various turnings to make! and with perspex small side openers I would need to be double jointed to signal LOL.
I will have a fiddle first and see if it works.
How much do you want for the indicator stork? and is it for a mk1?
All the best James

Yes they are different.
So, If I get stuck does anyone know anyone that can fix (fairly permantly) these storks. i.e, auto electrician etc. I can remove it from the mini.

RE: Indicator Stork
I believe I have fixed the stork but I still have a problem.
The stork as you experts will know has a circular piece of brass contact for the offside and nearside indicator positions. They are attached to the main indicator stork and dont move. There is a brass clip/pin? which when the indicator is pushed up or down, slides across and makes contact with either the nearside or offside circular piece of brass.
Well this clip/pin? was touching one of the circular brass contacts when the indicator was disenaged, hence staying on! I have eased it back an the indicator now cancels.
However the indicator fuse is blowing, but only when the nearside is selected. I could leave the offside on all day but as soon as I select the nearside the indicator light comes on fixed, and then blows the fuse.
Process of elimation?
The bulbs work fine but I may change, just incase.
I presume I should check the connections and bulbs on the nearside??
The indicator clicking thing? in the engine bay is new.
I dont know much about electrics so any advice would be appreciated.
